ReedPop Cancels Their MCM Comic 2020 Summer Conventions

Jay Cochran - May 19, 2020
ReedPOP has now officially canceled their UK based MCM Comic Con Conventions for this summer season due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The MCM Comic Con London in recent years has been one of the conventions Hasbro was attending to reveal new product. Here is the official statement:

It is with a heavy heart that we today announce the cancellation of MCM Birmingham Comic Con June, MCM London Comic Con July, MCM Manchester Comic Con August, and MCM Scotland Comic Con September following the escalation of COVID-19 in the UK, Europe, and globally.

Our aim since the beginning has always been to put on the best events for you as possible, a space for you to gather together, be yourselves, and make memories with those who matter to you most. Unfortunately, after extensive discussions with all the relevant public health, local and national authorities we have taken the difficult decision not to go ahead with the events at this time.

Refunds for ticket holders, pre-paid photo and autographs, exhibitors, retailers and artists will all be automatically processed, with no further action needed on your part. We aim to have all refunds processed before the end of June and we appreciate your continued patience and understanding.

Our hearts go out to everyone impacted by the COVID-19 virus, and to all of you, who look forward to our events year on year as a place of acceptance and safety. Rest assured, we are working hard to make sure that when safe to do so, we will return as a physical event, but until then we have plans to bring you all your comic con needs to the safety of your own homes, so stay tuned over the next few months!

Finally, we would like to say thank you for all the messages that we have received over the past few months. Your feedback has been invaluable in helping us determine next steps, and your patience and support during this challenging and unprecedented time whilst difficult decisions were being made has helped us every step of the way.

Sad stuff, but not like we all didn't expect this, I'm just waiting to hear the sad news that The beloved Toronto 80's Toy Con will be cancelled and they already rescheduled to October

Seems only a matter of time before they announce the cancellation of Keystone Comic Con in August and New York Comic Con in October.

This is shocking! Who could have possibly foreseen this!! And so out of the blue. I was totally not expecting this announcement. Totally unheard of !

Hasbro has only ever attended the October MCM in London. Theyve never been to any earlier shows in the year. The October con is still on, currently.

Sadly this is no surprise.
